Guy Laroche Paris Cravates tie — retailed by B. Altman & Co.
A vintage Guy Laroche Paris necktie in a handsome diagonal stripe of powder blue, navy, brown, cream and black. The textured weave gives the stripes dimension, while an embroidered GL monogram near the blade provides a subtle designer signature.
The reverse retains its original Cravates Guy Laroche Paris label and Guy Laroche logo lining, along with a separate B. Altman & Co. label documenting its retail provenance through the historic New York department store.
Details: Guy Laroche Paris; Cravates line; diagonal striped textile; embroidered GL monogram; Guy Laroche logo lining; original B. Altman & Co. retailer label; vintage, circa 1970s.
Curator's Note
The B. Altman label is what makes this one particularly fun. Beyond the very 1970s palette and graphic stripe, it preserves a connection between a Paris fashion house and one of New York's great old department stores.
