A masterclass in deconstruction from Comme des Garçons, this deep navy tailored jacket takes the traditional codes of menswear and pulls them apart—quite literally.

The jacket features a sharply structured cropped silhouette with long sleeves and beautifully curved architectural seaming through the back. Its defining element is the separate elongated collar and lapel piece, constructed with exaggerated notched lapels and buttonhole detailing. Draped around the neckline, it reconstructs the familiar tuxedo lapel in an entirely unexpected way, creating movement, asymmetry and multiple styling possibilities.

Worn together, the two pieces create a dramatic layered silhouette with fragmented lapels cascading across the front. The detachable component can also be worn independently as a sculptural collar or scarf, allowing the wearer to reinterpret the garment with each styling.

Rendered in deep midnight navy, the color softens the severity of the tailoring while revealing the extraordinary construction and dimensional quality of the design.

Curator’s Note

Comme des Garçons has long challenged the assumption that a garment must remain fixed in form. Here, one of tailoring's most recognizable elements—the lapel—is separated from the jacket and transformed into something the wearer can drape, wrap and reconstruct.

It isn't simply a navy jacket. It's an exploration of what a jacket can be.
